In
March, 2002, a group of interested local residents got together for
a first formal meeting to discuss whether there was sufficient
community interest to form a new yacht club in Aransas Pass,
Texas. Initial interest was encouraging, which led to a second
meeting a week later to take discussions further. From that point
on, there was no stopping.
With remarkable speed and effort on the part of several founding members, APYC was officially incorporated on July 26, 2002, with bylaws ratified on August 13th. As of January 2008, there are more than 150 members. Our members come from all over Texas and include a number of Winter Texans living part-time in other parts of the U.S. APYC is proud to have strong support and participation by an enthusiastic and motivated membership. Club mixers are held monthly. These events provide the forum for special presentations and programs. Informal Club Nights are held the second and fourth Mondays of the month as a means to provide networking amongst members and catch up on current events. Although still in its adolescence, APYC holds cruise nights, raftup socials, boating vacations and organizes lighted-boat parades. The goal to build a clubhouse is within reach, and the future looks bright as membership increases and the Club extends its community support. 3/2008 |
